FEICKERT

Available for the first time in North America, , is a new line of specially crafted turntables and packages that are as exceptional in appearance as is they are in performance. Each of these new turntables is built around custom designed electronics, precisely controlling from one to three DC motors. These new electronic designs offer superior performance now and with built-in facilities for future upgrades resulting from advances in ongoing research and development

Perhaps the most critical single part of a turntable is the bearing design. Here too, Dr. Feickert Analogue has created something special: a bearing that is at the heart of every model offering the smoothest and thus quietest possible performance.

The plinths in each model are built up using a three-layer configuration. This allows for a dissipation of extraneous energy and results in the ideal platform for the turntable system to perform optimally. The quick release armboard system found on each turntable allows for the use of 9” or 12” tonearms with ease.

Setup is simple and straightforward. All you need to do is level the turntable, setup the tonearm and   cartridge and  adjust speed with the included PlatterSpeed iOS or Android App. There are no fussy and complicated suspension adjustments to get in the way of effortlessly enjoying the best that analog playback has to offer.

Founder Chris Feickert launched Dr. Feickert Analogue from Germany in 2005. A foremost expert in vinyl playback, he initially focused on the creation of high-end protractors - phono cartridge and tonearm alignment tools. Soon Chris turned his attention from setup equipment to building his own line of turntables each designed to resolve issues that have plagued analog playback for nearly 100 years.

Woodpecker

The Woodpecker is an entirely new turntable design in which timeless elegance meets excellence in sound. Dr. Feickert Analogue refined its already well-proven bearing design adding a new high-inertia platter driven by a new high-torque motor. The motor is then further enhanced by a newly developed motor electronics package. Why the emphasis on new? Because this ground-up development has resulted in an extremely balanced and inherently musical turntable with an appealing compact chassis – the new base-line of excellence in turntable design.

The Woodpecker turntable is available by itself or as part of a complete package that includes a 12" Jelco tonearm and the Acoustical Systems Arché headshell (shown).

Reviews

"The Woodpecker Package has proven itself to be a very capable platform for vinyl playback. Its High Inertia Platter, updated drive system, redesigned bearing, quick-release sliding-tonearm mounting system, and Acoustical Systems Arché headshell combine to give the turntable solid and steady playback capabilities. The gorgeous VANA-specified finish adds beauty to solid baseline performance. If you are in the market for a turntable in this price range, you owe it to yourself to include the Woodpecker in that search. Given the Woodpecker’s ability to work well with cartridges far more expensive and capable than what would normally be installed, it could possibly serve its owner far into the future." by Andre Jennings

BLACKBIRD

The new Blackbird was built up from the innovative technical foundation of the Woodpecker with a goal of taking its remarkable sound quality even further. In addition to the refinement in performance, Dr. Feickert Analogue also wanted to offer dual tonearm mounting in an affordable package.

In order to increase performance as well as accommodate the dual tonearm mounts, the base was increased in size. This aids in increasing both authority and overall dynamics. Mounted in this new and larger chassis is a new dual motor design supported by new controller software. The two motors are configured in a 180° position around the bearing in order to cancel out all reactive forces that can cause gyration of the platter. This results in significantly reduced rumble, wow and flutter.

 FIREBIRD

To create the third of its three new turntable concepts, the Firebird, Dr. Feickert Analogue could have taken the simple route of modifying only the electronics section of the Woodpecker and the Blackbird. Instead, the Firebird, true to its name, was re-envisioned from the ground up starting with a blank sheet. At its foundation is the creation of an all-new electronics package. Additionally, the Dr. Feickert Analogue has completely rewriten the motor control software taking multi-motor-turntable operation to a new level.

The Firebird is designed around a unique equilateral triangle based around a three-motor configuration. This triangular configuration goes beyond single and dual motor designs in further reducing drag force on the bearing providing enhanced stabilization of the bearing/platter assembly by canceling out virtually all acting forces. All tendencies toward gyration are effectively eliminated. Combining this innovation with the all-new bearing (used in the Woodpecker and Blackbird models), which reduces the area of contact by 80 percent over earlier designs, the Firebird achieves lower friction with a great reduction of rumble, wow and  flutter.

The Firebird is available by itself or as part of a complete package that includes a 12" Jelco tonearm and the Acoustical Systems Arché headshell (shown).
