Since the company's founding in 1980, ASR Audiosysteme's Friedrich Schaefer has attained a near mythic and enviable reputation for astonishing musicality in the world of High End audio.

ARS's aim in all their products, which includes two phono stages and two integrated amplifiers, is to combine the harmony and musicality of tubes with the accuracy and sovereign power distribution of modern transistor amplifiers. They have succeeded beyond any reasonable expectation in doing exactly that.

The core of the ASR line are its two "integrated" amplifiers, the Emitter I and Emitter II, both of which can be had in an "exclusive" version, which (among many other improvements) adds an extra battery operated power supply, completely freeing these components from the adverse effects of using alternating current from your wall outlet.

True audiophile products, the Emitter I and II sacrifice nothing for performance, so be prepared for using between one to three sizeable outboard power supplies which are essential to achieve the sense of limitless power and extraordinary harmonic accuracy which the ASR integrated amplifiers are capable of. The concept behind ASR's Emitter I and Emitter II is totally different from all other integrated amplifiers.

ASR PHILOSOPHY

ASR's integrated amplifiers are best described as a main amplfiiers with input selector and level control. Large, high quality transformers are installed into separate casings. This design eliminates electro-magnetic fields and vibrations from the amplifier. This is an essential element in the calm and relaxing sound of the Emitter. The power supply circuit is equipped with a buffering capacity of more than 1.3 Farad and very fast rectifiers, a necessity for the power supply to remain stable under extreme conditions.

The surround cases of the Emitter control units are produced of acrylic glass. This material is audibly more neutral and sounding smoother than the usual metal cases.

With its energy saving circuit, the Emitter has full resolution and energy even at low volume and enough power to drive any loudspeaker at high volume. A high speed input amplifier and MOS-FET driver and output stage guarantees a crystal clear, precise, spacial and smooth sound characteristic.

The volume control features a precise relay circuit in 1dB steps with a range of 75 dB. All functions of the Emitter can be activated manually or by infrared remote control.

A plug in phono preamplifier board allows the connection of MM and MC cartridges.

Various safety circuits protect the amplifier and your loudspeakers against short circuit, overheating, DC output, or excessive distortions caused by overdrive or overload of the amplifier. These circuits are not installed in the signal path.

With only one very high quality amplification stage, which has the shortest possible signal path, the design of the Emitter has a decisive advantage compared to typical amplifier concepts.

With concentration on the essential and neutral, ergonomic design, ASR has created timeless products that represent an outstanding value. All units are hand made in Herborn Germany by carefully trained craftsmen.

EMITTER II

The Emitter II is the sovereign entrance into the class of ASR's large intetgrated amplifiers. The Emitter II was developed in order to drive the most demanding loudspeakers with ease and power. A basic requirement for this unit is an over specified current supply: for each channel, one separate power unit with two powerful PM (Philbert-Mantelschnitt) transformers with energy saving circuit. In total, 3 transformers generate eight different voltages. Every voltage is rectified individually and pre-buffered. These voltages are used to supply separately the input amplifier, driver and output stages, as well as the control circuit.

EMITTER I

The Emitter I is ASR's entry model, offering all the qualities of the Emitter family. A separate power supply keeps electro-magnetic fields and vibrations away from the control unit. The power supply is equipped with two powerful PM transformers with a smaller PM transformer for standby operation. The two power transformers are switched on softly with 5 high power relays in the energy saving mode. If required, they can be switched via a current limiter into normal operation mode. In the power supply unit, 8 different voltages are generated. Every voltage is rectified individually and pre-buffered. The voltages are used to supply the input amplifier, driver, output stage as well as the control circuit separately.
